Mark your calender! The most exciting magic event of 2009 will take place on 27 Jun 2009, Sat @ 9.30pm.
The Singapore River is the place to be that night because there will be so many things going on as part of the last day of the Singapore River Festival 2009! Everyone is going to be there!
More importantly, you can be part of history as Ning & I have been chosen by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to be the closing highlight of the festival with a brand new mega event – “The Impossible Record“!
Concept:Magic will be producing the event and Central will once again be the title venue.
So, what is “The Impossible Record”?
Set to a countdown timer in front of an expected audience of 5000 people, Ning & I will attempt to perform a world record-setting 15 grand illusions in 5 minutes.
Grand illusions are defined as large-scale stage magic acts that involve physicality and usually utilize, but not limited to, large props. Sleight of hand acts, card tricks, magic with birds or handkerchiefs do not constitute as grand illusion.
The record attempt will be adjudicated by the Singapore Book of Records and the International Brotherhood of Magicians. The record is the first ever magic record of any kind to be adjudicated by the Singapore Book of Records and is also being submitted to Guinness World Records.
For this mega event, we will be making ourselves appear, vanish, teleport, exchange places, dissect their bodies, pass through solid objects, making a motorcycle appear, and much more in this physically & mentally challenging feat of attempting 15 grand illusions in 5 minutes.
One of my favourite illusionists, Hans Klok, who presented 10 illusions in 5 minutes last year during a TV studio recording, set the current un-official record. We are trying to up that by 50%!

The announcement has sparked great media & public interest. We received smses and emails who saw us in the news tonight. Ning & I were panelists at today’s press conference, presenting to the local and regional media after screening the teaser trailer for “The Impossible Record”.
The media were really excited about this magic event as it is completely different from anything we have done before – which is the point 🙂 Besides local media, AXN ebuzz will be covering the event and MagicSeen from the U.K. will be flying down to cover the record-setting illusion event as well.
This is the 2nd magic-centric event that STB is presenting/ endorsing; the first being our “The Impossible Journey” from last year. Last year’s mega illusion was a major success which is why we got the call from STB to create something as spectacular as last year’s event.
“The Impossible Record” is our continued effort to bring high-end magic to the mainstream public in this part of the world. Our significant projects this year thus far have included the continuation of “Ultimate Magic”, “Magic Day” and our “Southern England Magic Convention” appearance. “The Impossible Record” is the first of at least 2 mega events we have lined up for 2009.
When STB first approached us to be the only returning act for the Singapore River Festival, we originally came up with 2 concepts. Both were good but different. They eventually chose “The Impossible Record” over the other but requested we keep the other mega magic event for another occasion.
For our own team, we are raising the bar for ourselves each time to create aa unique mega event. Our goal is to always push the envelope and be innovative in presenting our brand of “urban illusions in the city”. Again, we are honoured to be the representatives from Singapore to put our tiny country on the world map.
We still have a couple of surprises as part of this project so watch out for them!
