360 Sawing Illusion Update

The design of this new illusion is really ‘sick’!

It features a spider web motif, a silhouette of ‘Magic Babe’, stainless steel structures and chains. When we are done with it in a few days time, it will stand at an impressive 8ft tall. It is our most ambitious and unique rebuild/ redesign of an illusion to date. It will also be our most arty designed illusion ever!

The receipts of the various parts, fabricaton and elements from specialized vendors are running up to the thousands of dollars; and I have not counted in the man hours of design and fabrication. But it is going to be so worth it.

Years ago, I would have balked at the fact that a redesign would cost me the budget of an illusion…now, it is a built-in cost of investment. hehe. But, this makes the illusion a one-of-a-kind in the world.

It really helps that I have a great in-house team to support the rebuild. Four of us are working on different elements of the illusion and we also have a host of vendors who are more than happy to entertain us with our unusual designs and fabrication of small quantity items. And, none of them know what we are using the parts for because we do all the assembly in-house.

Exclusive photos in a few days!

Debut performance will be on 6 Jun 2009 at The Esplanade!

batman comes to mind when you mentioned that all were done in house. get something built here, another thing built there and then bring it all and fix it together privately. sounds pretty cool in a sense that no one knows what you are building with the parts you are getting. 🙂
