Concept:Magic celebrates its 10th year in business this year and we are happy to have raised the standard of professional magic in this part of the world. Whether it is our product offerings, style of presentation or marketing efforts, we have been setting the pace and standard for the magic industry in the regional event industry since 1998.
More recently, in the last 3 years, we also have been the brains and executioners behind the most significant public magic projects in the history of our country. From the first regular street magic series on TV, to our 3 mega illusion/ escape events to Singapore’s first permanent illusion show, our proven track record of ‘firsts’ is our best credential.
In another first, Ning is also undisputedly the Singapore magician who has been the most covered in the media, from interviews, magazine covers and features. No local magician in history has as much press coverage as she has. It is staggering considering all her PR has been in the last 2 years alone! (BTW, look out for her on this Monday’s or Tuesday’s The NewPaper!)
Marketing-wise, we have had so many magicians copy the way we package our shows/ services and marketing copy. I’ve actually lost count of the number of magicians who have lifted marketing copy and phrases we use from our website to pass off as our own. When we request them to take down the copied material, they react with surprising aggressiveness. They are irritated and offended that we suggest that they remove pirated material even though they know and admit they pirated the material. I will never forget a Malaysian magician’s remark to Ning when we asked him politely to remove a pirated paragraph of text from his website: “I’ve lost respect for J C! I only copied one paragraph and he is making such a big deal and asking me to remove it!”. Go figure 🙂
Anyway, this is not a rant entry but rather to give you a heads up of new things to expect in 2009. Expect new offerings in terms of how our shows are packaged, new projects embarked on and a slew of innovative marketing efforts never before seen in our industry!
Here is a peak into the first half of 2009 for us:
- Southern England Magic Convention
- Release of my 4th illusion book “Urban Illusions”
- Ultimate Magic Season 2
- More major media features
- Big event for Magic Boutique
- A different book publishing project
- Another Mega Magic event
Industry partners and clients will also be in for a nice surprise soon 🙂
