Funny how things work out….

The tragedy in Mumbai has been extensively covered, blogged and commented upon so I’m not adding anything else besides giving my condolences to the family. Ning & I were actually staying in the same hotel last Oct when we were in Mumbai for a show. That was almost exactly 1 year ago. Thailand is also facing its own political turnmoil once again with major airports closed in Bangkok. This is almost an encore to what happened in Phuket in August. I bring all this up because both India and Thailand are major destinations for our work and we could have been in any of these countries when these bad things have/ are happening. But, with “Ultimate Magic” and our mega events from the 2nd half of this year, we had to turn down quite a number of overseas engagements. So, that is a good thing in many ways.

More than twelve years ago, I said that it would be impossible to sustain an illusion show in Singapore. Obviously, I’ve swallowed my words since then. I developed the first ‘practical’ illusion show for the corporate & special event market here in 1998. That has grown substantially over the years and now Singapore has its own first permanent illusion show in the form of “Ultimate Magic”.

This past month has been a month of learning that things work out in certain ways for reasons not apparent at the time. Knowing, self discovery and realization are important milestones in all journeys. Journeys can be as short or as long as you want them to be. Ironically, we often end up where we started, but we become that much more knowing; which makes all the difference in the world. Do you know?

i’m just so thankful that none of my friends are abroad in the affected countries during these times.

some people say the end doesn’t matter, the process matter more. I say the end matters, but process matters more. we will never know what is in stored for us, but what we choose shape our life. each journey is part of our life. it may be painful it may be hard, but we all learn from every journey.

self-discovery and knowing makes all the difference in the world. indeed.

    a very thoughtful post, j c…

i realised the importance of knowing things a few years back.. it’s really interesting how fate likes to play with you, and how knowing a few things might make everything so different in life when you’re making decisions.. but it also seems that knowing is not always the best solution. i’d rather not know the results and put my whole heart into it, rather than knowing the results beforehand, and then trying to change it.

wow.. so deep and complicated. i don’t really think that much. what i feel is that you only need to know one thing, and that is what you want to achieve in your life.
