If you are looking for something to do on 20, 21, 27 & 28 Jul 2013, come down with the family and friends to City Square Mall for a series of very special shows that Ning & I are producing and staging.
We will be staging a unique “Heritage of Singapore Magic” show that will showcase Singapore’s colourful magic heritage from the past, present and future.
From the early British influence to the Chinese immigrants and the homegrown stars of Singapore magic, this is a first-of-its kind locally produced show featuring local magic history.
We hand-picked a number of performers to be part of this historic show. Here are the talents you will see take the stage for the shows:
British Magician – Jon Heron
This was a natural choice to play the role. Jon is British and has been in Singapore for the longest time. He is a professional circus arts performer who also performs magic. His act will comprise of early British magic and includes magic & stunts with top hats, canes and silk handkerchiefs.
Chinese Magician – Yong Tian
Adeline, going by her Chinese name for her Chinese-themed shows, has been working with us since 2008 and has played a key role in all our recent mega stunts, international television appearances and corporate shows. She is also an all-rounded competent magician in her own right, excelling in close-up magic and stage magic. She will presenting her new stage acts that include modern interpretations of traditional Chinese magic acts including a superb version of the Kuma Tubes.
The Great Wong – Andy Ng
Andy Ng, whom I have known since 1993, and who worked on magic club shows that I produced in the late 90s was an advent student of The Great Wong’s magic. The Great Wong was Singapore’s most influential and historical magician and was world renown for his version of the Chinese Linking Rings because of the intricate patterns he created with six solid steel rings. Andy will play the role of The Great Wong and will present an authentic version of Wong’s Ring routine.
The Future of Magic – Dean Wong
We first met Dean at a Mediacorp Tradeshow where he performed in a segment that featured young talent of Okto’s “One Minute to Fame” TV show – which he won. Subsequently, he won our own talent search, “Own the Stage” and performed in our “Urban Circus” theatre show. He is an excellent representative of the future of Singapore magic and will be performing a very modern and fresh stage magic act.
Ning & I will also be performing an illusion as well as serving as hosts for the shows.
Besides being filled with magic of vastly different styles and genres, these shows will shed light on the rich heritage of Singapore magic and will be a great eye-opener for audiences of all ages.
We hope to see you there!
