Magic Brainstorming

Today will be a long day in the studio for us before our “Ultimate Magic” shows. We will be continuing to produce and rehearse the special customized we have planned for the launch of a new generation laptop on Friday.

We have developed a complex launch sequence that will include multiple magic effects and 4 large-scale illusions in one launch sequence. We will be supported by laser and lighting effects as well as CO2 blasts. Jean Danker will be the emcee for the launch and it will be the 3rd time we would have seen her in the last 2 weeks. We just saw her yesterday at the S League Awards Night where she was an award presenter.

It was challenging brainstorming the different illusions to represent the various product messages and features but honestly, it is what we do best. Our extensive inventory and repertoire of illusions ensure we have something that best fits a client. If not, we simply custom design and build. It is this distinctive hallmark of Concept:Magic that distinguishes us from any other magic team in this region. All will be revealed after the launch!

About twice a year, I also look at the overall business plan and strategy for my various businesses to ensure we are on track and achieving the goals we set out at the start of the year. Right now, I’m reviewing the three businesses that form our ‘unofficial’ group (Concept:Magic, Mighty Magic Factory & Magic Boutique) and we are also scheduing our periodic brainstorming session really soon.

Items on the brainstorm agenda will be looking ahead to 2009 and adapting ourselves for the economic slowdown that will no doubt affect our business. Besides our ongoing shows, we have a couple of special projects planned for Concept:Magic, possibly another mega illusion-type project. We are also looking to tap back into another corporate market that has been relatively untouched in this region since I stopped being active in it 4 years ago. As marketing trends and the business climate has changed since then, it will be challenging but I have confidence that we can bring value to this market.

Mighty Magic Factory has been growing steadily over the past year. It has developed well for a new business in its freshman year so we will be looking to build the business even more for 2009.

We have an exciting event planned for Magic Boutique in early 2009. I’m sure Ning will fill you in on details closer to the date.

The entire team will also be reorganized with some people taking on new roles, performing cross-business functions and examining business processes to increase our productivity.
