After our two Ultimate Magic shows at The Arena, we headed to St Regis to perform for a MSIG Insurance’s 50th Anniversary gala event for about 600 people. There was a sense of deja vu as we performed there several weeks ago for Canon.
The Concept:Magic Team actually loaded in one full set of illusion equipment to the hotel the night before. The team did a fantastic job making sure all was in order. The event management company managing the event was one of the most professional we ever worked with. Surprisingly, it is the first time working with them but they truly did an awesome job in ensuring that all our technical requirements were met. This resulted in us being able to stage the best show we could!
And the show went tremendously well with a strong ovation from the audience after every act we performed. We debuted the brand new “Cyrstal Striptease” illusion which got tremendous response… that was gratifying. We pulled out old favourites like the Vertical Sawing, Light & Space and 3 Inch Hole which all played well.
After the performance of Crystal Striptease as our show opener.

Vertical Sawing in Performance
The entire 30min show felt like 15min and our entire team were wondering if we ran short but we didn’t.. . So, that is a great thing… when a show does not feel its length. I should have told that to the guy who fell asleep… kidding
No one fell asleep!
While I write this, the Concept:Magic team is actually now loading some of our props directly from St Regis to Orchard Hotel for our show tomorrow, or rather, later today. They are doing a tireless job making sure our shows are looking good and of value to our clients. The Impalement Cage is also loading in as I write.
We had a series of good rehearsals earlier today but Ning still has some trouble making the time. I hope all goes well tomorrow. Check back soon!

That’s really a tireless team… Seems like shows non-stop for the team! That’s what makes a great show i guess! Great illusionists plus a superb behind-the-scenes team. Kudos to you guys for a great show. Only wished that it had been open to public…
shows after shows after shows, the entire concept magic team must be really busy! but i guess when its your passion, one will work fervorously to achieve his goals.. good luck for todays performances.
didnt know that u did the vertical sawing thing, jc. in fact, if i am not wrong, since reading your blog until now, this is the first time i saw it.. but reversed role? interesting.
Hey! how does the crystal striptease work? the name of the illusion is something i definitely wanna witness live!
please do post a video link asap jc!
hmmm.. how do you post online while they are loading? do you like bring your laptop around with you? or are you using your phone?
cool man, i think i understand what you mean by the feeling of the length of the show.. sometimes when i watch an exciting soccer match, it’s like over in an instance. then when there’s a boring match, it feels extra long.. but i’ve never thought about using that as a measure of whether work is done well or not..
hey, i never really understood the meaning of what jc said till jack expressed it in that manner. you’re really a genius, jc.. i would never have thought of that..
you mean you guys left the illusion stuff at the hotel overnight? aren’t you afraid people will go through your stuff and expose your illusions? or even steal the equipment?
