The Impalement Cage V2.0

In yesterday’s blog entry, I mentioned a new version of Ning’s “The Impalement Cage” that we have developed especially for a special event we are performing for the Football Association tomorrow.

If you remember, Ning became the first female magician in South East Asia to successfully attempt a mega illusion in front of 4000 spectators. It was the most widely covered magic event by the media ever and was a great milestone for Ning. Watch the official video below:

This was a one of its kind spectacle to be performed only once. When we were booked for the FAS event, they wanted a special act as a highlight of the show. I suggested a redesign of “The Impalement Cage”.

megaescape

Many elements had to be changed because the escape must now be incorporated into a show – it is not just a stand-alone act. The weight of the prop and height had to be changed. I also wanted the escape to be different and even more challenging for Ning – to her great ‘delight’… or was it fright.

In the original mega escape, Ning had to escape from handcuffs, chains, neck collar and ankle restraints while blindfolded. This time round, she will be attempting to escape from a Straight Jacket, leg irons and chains wrapped round her body… all before 13 steel spikes descend on her.

Not surprising, the straight jacket is giving Ning more problems than we anticipated because there are so many parts to it and it gets tangled up with the chains.

Will she survive? Find out on Tues night.

Sounds like the difficulty level is too high…but hope you guys have a successful performance!

i am pretty sure it is to ning’s delight! haha. she doesnt seem the type to be fazed by a harder challenge than it already is. especially when it involves locks, chains and spikes.

    “Will she survive?”

    :O

That’s craziness.. You guys increased the difficulty level?? I saw the impalement cage the last time and Ning escaped barely by the breadth of her hair. Though she still managed to undo her hair and ended looking like a million bucks.

Hmm JC… Somehow i sense a feeling of glee in the blog entry here!!?? =p

surely there will be some form of fail-safe no matter what, to prevent ning from being impaled by the spikes, right? aiya jc wont let ning die one la =p
