“Ultimate Magic” at The Arena in Rehearsals.

For the past 2 weeks, we have been busy rehearsing the “Ultimate Magic” show at The Arena (yes, amidst preparing for Ning’s mega escape.) While the previews only open in August, we have a number of critical showcases in July to the media and tourism industry. Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has arranged an international media showcase of “Ultimate Magic” as an entertainment product of Singapore. It is good to know that STB is fully behind this attraction :-)

During one of our rehearsals, FiRST movie magazine came down to shoot some photos for their Aug issue. They have first peak at our rehearsals and their readers will be the first to see just what to expect from “Ultimate Magic”. Here are some photos from that rehearsal. While they are low rez candid shots, they do give you a taste of our “Urban Illusions in the City” feel that defines our show. That’s right, one of the appeals of our show to the media, tourist agents and people off the street is the fact that our show is not a dated tacky and cheesy show with top hats, rabbits, tail coats and flowers.

A modern role-reversal illusion act that sees ‘Magic Babe’s push a bed of spikes through me. This high energy act also features Ning’s skillful twirling display of her sais.

Teleporting into The Arena

“Extreme Burn” is Ning’s daring escape from a flaming spear! The Impalement Cage was just not enough for her…

“Crystal Metamorphosis” is our sleek rendition of a classic.

My original 8ft giant industrial fan illusion is one of my personal favourites. There is nothing like this in the world. A spectator actually comes on stage to full examine the fan from all sides before the illusion. I’m particularly proud of this illusion as it is a radical departure from other fan illusions like Jim Steinmeyer’s Windshear illusion, which is excellent but just overdone and perform by dozens and dozens of magicians across the world.

“Full Throttle” Hot gal with a flashy bike. As the writer from FiRST said: “the picture speaks for itself”!

Okay, this is not a shot of us in rehearsal but is one of the potential main shots for the article.
